ABANDONED CARS

Abandoned / Inoperable Vehicles can be more than just unpleasant to look at - they can be hazardous, depending on the location and other conditions. 

OKC Towing Service helps maintain the order of our city’s streets and neighborhoods by assisting authorities in the safe removal of abandoned and inoperable vehicles.

Abandoned Vehicles:

  • The vehicle has been towed to an area designated by a law enforcement officer, yet remains unclaimed after 30 days.

  • The vehicle has been with a dealer or repairman for a period of 30 or more days.

  • The vehicle has been left unattended on private property – not belonging to the vehicle’s owner – for 30 days or more.

  • The vehicle has been parked on a public street or highway for a period of five or more days.



Inoperable Vehicles: are not allowed on public or private property, including driveways. Examples include wrecked cars, vehicles partially or completely dismantled, rusted, junked or abandoned. Vehicles with flat or no tires or with an expired or missing tag are also included.

Reporting Abandoned Vehicles:

Here is an easy way to report abandoned cars (as well as all code violations): Oklahoma City has a new mobile app for which allows residents and business owners to report code violations from the convenience of a mobile app.

The app allows you to take a photo of the problem vehicle along with your GPS global positioning or an entered address so city inspectors can locate the violation.

Or you can contact the Action Center at (405) 297-2353 and an inspector will be sent out to the location you specify to research the vehicle and find out if there are any code violations.
